Lazada PH Celebrates its Third Year Anniversary with a 3-Day Shopping Extravaganza

Lazada PH, a part of Lazada Group which operates Southeast Asia’s number one e commerce and selling destination, is celebrating its third anniversary this month with three days of sales from 24 to 26 March.

Lazada Group has seen rapid growth since its launch in March 2012. The company now has over 4,000 employees across the region and has raised approximately EUR 520 million in funding from leading sector specialists and investors including Temasek, Tesco, JP Morgan, Kinnevik and Rocket Internet, among others. 

In December 2014, Lazada Group’s GMV exceeded US$70 million, supported by the success of the month-long Online Revolution campaign which kicks off annually on 11 November. Its sites and mobile applications saw over 40 million unique visitors during the month of December. This performance is testament to the company’s focus on delivering an effortless, secure and reliable one-stop shopping experience for its customers.

Lazada Group’s growth is also a result of its rapid assortment expansion driven by its unique position to provide brands and merchants simple, fast and direct access to approximately 550 million consumers in six countries through one retail channel. The number of sellers on the marketplace platform, which now accounts for approximately 75% of overall sales, crossed 10,000 in December 2014.

Addressing the logistical challenges in the region, Lazada Group is investing heavily to develop its infrastructure. The company now has eight warehouses and a dedicated Lazada Express last mile delivery fleet with 50 hubs covering 80 cities. In addition, Lazada Group has partnered with 60 express transport and courier companies across the region to provide customers with quick and reliable delivery.

Game ON! Viber Games Now Live Worldwide! #ViberGames

I bet majority of smartphone users has a Viber app. Viber is a very useful app when it comes to sending message to your network of friends, co employees and family. Personally, I love using Viber, it helps me to be more creative and funny when sending messages to people I know using the sets of cool and funny stickers/emojis. Today, Viber is adding a new feature for us, the Viber Games! Viber Pop, Wild Luck Casino and Candy Mania. 

Viber, the leading OTT mobile communications platform, offering free messaging, HD-quality phone and video calls, recently launched Viber Games, a major expansion to the app. Viber has partnered with leading game developers to bring unique gaming experiences to the platform featuring Viber characters and exclusive content. Turnover of Road Safety Teaching Aids for Public Elementary Schools in PH #FundacionMapfreInitiates

Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Luis Antonio Calvo, with DepEd Undersecretary of Programs and Projects Dina Ocampo, and Mapfre Insular president and CEO, Javier Warleta, initiated the turnover of Road Safety Teaching Aids for public elementary schools in the country, between FundacionMapfre and the Department of Education (DepEd).

The materials were given to improve the teaching-learning process in schools so that students may be aware of how to safely navigate Philippine roads, particularly the busy streets of the metro.

Soft copies of the program’s materials will be stored in the DepEd Portal to provide easier access for the teachers. 

Ultimately, the goal is to reach out to 47,000 schools nationwide—both in the elementary and secondary levels. On top of raising awareness among the youth, DepEd, Mapfre, and the Spanish Embassy would like to extend road safety consciousness to adults as well, since they are the members of society who use the roads more often.DepEd recognizes that changes will come faster if adults lead by example. As a start, teachers must be able to learn from the program and share it with their students and families.

The Spanish Ministry of Education and Embassy have worked closely with DepEd on special programs, and are thus very supportive of the project. The collaborators would like to emphasize safety as a way of life. They believe that values and health education are as important as traffic and car safety principles.

MTRCB Launches its 2015 TV and Film Infomercial

It's the 30th year of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).  To start the celebration of its anniversary, MTRCB formally launched its new infomercial on 23 February 2015 at 2:00 p.m., MTRCB Building.  Directed by renowned film and television director Jose Javier “Joey” Reyes, Jr., DGPI and conceptualized by Mr. Erlito “Lilit” Reyes, the infomercial features actors-spouses Ryan and Judy Ann Agoncillo in a typical morning situation at home.  In such scene, their depicted child picks up a word from a TV feature and asks the elders in the house what it means.

The infomercial aims to challenge parents and responsible adults to be aware of the media content our children are exposed to, and to be mindful of the MTRCB’s classification ratings.  Parents are also reminded that the primary duty in guiding their children as to the media the latter see still rests in them.

Details of the infomercial were discussed by Director Joey Reyes, Ryan and Judy Ann Agoncillo, Lilit Reyes and MTRCB Board Members Bibeth Orteza and Manet Dayrit, the latter being Co-Chairpersons of the Infomercial Committee.  

The launch was culminated by the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the TV Networks and theater operators to ensure showing of the infomercial and to continuously empower the general public towards discerning viewership and thus, among other objectives, inform parents as to the media and entertainment their children may see.  

The infomercial will be aired in all television networks and theaters nationwide starting 25 February 2015.
