AJ Rafael kicks Off Red Roses Tour

AJ RAFAEL kicks off his Red Roses Tour in Southeast Asia produced by Monsoon Productions. The tour kicks off on January 13 and will be visiting Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. The tour includes the AJ Rafael Band consisting of AJ Rafael, Noah Bartfield, Danny Morledge, Andrew Rhim, and guest artists Krissy and Ericka Villongco from the Philippines. The second leg of the tour, produced by Nojon Entertainment happens in Australia visiting Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

AJ Rafael, is a 22-year old music artist from Moreno Valley, California. AJ has garnered a worldwide audience with his original music, videos on YouTube.com, and live performances in the US, Canada, Australia, Europe and the Philippines. With over 350,000 subscribers on YouTube, 200,000 fans on Facebook, and 90,000 followers on Twitter, AJ Rafael’s fan base grows steadily worldwide. The Red Roses tour hopes to reach AJ Rafael’s fan base demand in Southeast Asia and return to one of his second homes, Australia. AJ was also included in the short-list of the Grammys last year for its non-traditional/on-line category.

It should be noted that one of AJ’s major musical influences is Gary Valenciano whom he recently performed with live on ASAP 2012 when he was formally introduced to the mainstream Filipino music-loving market. AJ also took notice of Gabriel Valenciano’s and Kiana Valenciano’s cover version of Chris Brown’s “Yeah Yeah Yeah.” AJ saw their performance on YouTube and liked it and corresponded with Kiana via Twitter. Today, AJ finished collaborating with Kiana as they recorded a song with Gab as the producer.

Alongside the tour and through a partnership with PhilDev, AJ has adopted the CRIBS Foundation, a welfare institution committed to the care and recovery of abandoned and abused children in the Philippines. Proceeds from red roses at the Manila concert will go to CRIBS. AJ, during his trip is exploring additional ways to give back to the Philippines. AJ and his team are in discussions with the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation on how to partner for future advocacy and campaigns.

“We are excited to have AJ Rafael perform for the first time for his fans in the Philippines, Southeast Asia and return once again to Australia, where they have been long time supporters of AJ. My Househusband: Ikaw Na! is the movie to beat in the 2011 MMFF

The much awaited dramedy and Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “My Househusband: Ikaw Na!” has lead actors known for stellar acting prowess that many believe will weigh in mightily come awards night on Dec. 28.

Judy Ann Santos, who, in the movie, plays Mia, a mother and wife who is the sole breadwinner of her family, is not touted young superstar for nothing. She has been in show business for 23 years now and has done about 70 movies, many of which have won awards for her from many prestigious award giving bodies. Her unmatched mettle is also celebrated on television, making her not only a multi-hyphenate celebrity but a bankable one across media.

In “My Househusband: Ikaw Na!” Judy Ann delivers a performance that Director Joey Reyes lauds as realistic acting that no doubt stems from the fact that her leading man here is her real life husband, Ryan Agoncillo. Their first movie together since tying the knot, the two bring on the silver screen a chemistry that is based on a genuine, if not intuitive, understanding and essay of their roles. This early, many predict Judy Ann is shoo-in for Best Actress in the 2011 MMFF.

Although Ryan Agoncillo is better known as TV host, and one of the best ones in his generation too, he is a strong contender in the Best Actor category for playing Rod, a man who is bank manager one day then househusband the next. “My Househusband: Ikaw Na!” is certainly Ryan’s movie more than any one else’s as he has the most number of scenes among the cast members. But more than that, his delineation of provider turned circumstantial housekeeper will have people laughing, thinking, understanding and, perhaps, more accepting of the fact that there is no one formula or set-up that makes a family work.

Note that the last time Ryan worked with Direk Joey (in 2006’s “Kutob”), the former earned a nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category of the FAP Awards.

Comedienne Eugene Domingo has been winning awards left and right for five years in a row now. More, she is one of few actresses---if not the only one---in the Philippine entertainment history to have participated in six films produced by eight different Filipino production companies within a year. To say that she is great at what she does and is one of the most in-demand actresses these days is an understatement.

In “My Househusband: Ikaw Na!” Eugene plays Aida, a mistress who happens to be Rod and Mia’s neighbor. With Mia always away, Rod and Aida develop a friendship that even has the Mrs. jealous at one point. Although Eugene has done so many movies this year, she grabbed the opportunity to be cast in “My Househusband: Ikaw Na!” in order to work anew with Ryan, Judy Ann and Direk Joey, and to portray a role that challenges her.

“I’ve never played a mistress before nor best friend to a straight guy. Even in real life, I have lots of girl and gay friends but very few straight guys so I am tackling my role here from a fresh point of view,” said she, who’s gusto in working on “My Househusband: Ikaw Na!” surely brought out the best in her yet again.

Guiding the actors in giving their best in “My Househusband: Ikaw Na!” is Direk Joey, who, himself, is no stranger to awards. Many of his works have also become modern classics some of which also featured Ryan, Judy Ann and Eugene. He has said in recent interviews that his latest film is important in his career in that he plans to redirect his career should he win Best Director yet again.

With the stellar acting prowess of its talents in and the very relatable story of “My Househusband: Ikaw Na!” it is expected to lead box-office results and bring home the highest awards in the MMFF 2011.

Here's my coverage on Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos fun and intimate blogger press launch last Wednesday 12.o7.2o11 held at Napa Restaurant, Scout Borromeo in Quezon City. Even though Ryan and Juday had the whole afternoon to be with the press they still had the energy and managed to be with us.

The bloggers started to ask questions about "My Househusband, Ikaw Na!" (which is an official entry to the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival) and some personal things about their married life. We even asked them about the KC Piolo issue and Juday uttered positively also with a follow up question on money matters, "Yan yata ang pinakapanget na pwede mangyari sa mag asawa or kahit sa kahit na sinong may kapartner.", "Pera ko pera ko pera nya pera ko."Juday said. The campaign for the different in the coming Metro Manila Film Festival is in high gear and the word on the street as well as talk among industry insiders have it that "My Househusband: Ikaw Na!" is a shoo-in for the top awards as well as ruling the box office race.

Starring real life husband and wife Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos, the film speaks volumes of success in so many aspects already. Joining the fray is undisputed comedy actress Eugene Domingo. All three premiere talents join outstanding chemistry with director par excellence Jose Javier Reyes.

The totality is undeniably a conglomeration of winners in so many levels that Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress are some of the much-predicted trophies that can probably be associated to this film by OctoArts come awards' night.

Ryan and Juday's roles become even more realistic in their hands since they can relate to their characters in many aspects. Like married couple Mia and Rod, the lead characters in the movie, Judy Ann and Ryan know exactly what it's like to raise kids, to balance career and family life, to stay best friends with your significant other even after tying the knot, and to be clear on priorities and keep sense of humor especially through thin.

"Househusband" director Joey Reyes notes that the two kept it "real" and that aside from their well-polished skill in acting, their portrayals have that extra something, "an almost instinctive element". Ryan is a revelation here, the awarded director adds-- and the latter should know. Direk Joey, after all, also directed Ryan in "Kutob" in 2006 where the actor-TV host nabbed a nomination at the FAP Awards for Best Supporting Actor.

As if the winning tandem of Ryan and Judy Ann isn't enough, ace comedienne Eugene Domingo thickens the plot as Aida, a mistress who lives next door and eventually ends up as Rod's BFF. Eugene finds it refreshing that the comedic style she was made to bring into the film is neither over the top nor subdued but "just right".

Though she has starred in one film after the other this year, Eugene is glad to have added "My Househusband: Ikaw Na!" to her resume because it is the first time she plays a character who is best friends with a straight male. "Ibang iba ang point of view dahil dun and since I have very few straight male friends in real life, playing Aida was very refreshing and challenging."

Indeed, given her track record and the way she speaks fondly of her role, her co-actors and the film "My Househusband: Ikaw Na!" just might put another trophy on Eugene's shelf.

tying it all together so masterfully is Direk Joey: he has won awards from the Gawad Urian, Filipino Star Awards and in past MMFF. Many of his works such as "Minamahal Kita", "Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal", and "Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo" and "Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo" (which starred Judy and Ryan) are condsidered modern classics and going by gut feel, "My Househusband: Ikaw Na!" could lengthen that list.

And why not? Among all in this year's MMFF, the subject matter of "My Househusband: Ikaw Na!" is most timely: about a married couple who has a non-trditional set up in which the husband takes care of the kids and in manning the house while the wife looks after putting food on the table. Along the way, situations aries that test the arrangement and their relationship. "Many men today are 'househusband' either by choice or circumstance and in this film, we show the hilarious side of it," said he whose vision for the filmwas so clear to him that shooting the scenes were often a swift and smooth affair.

OFW Remittances at an All-time High: Social Remittances as New Currency from Global Pinoys

Remittances from Filipinos working overseas are at an all-time high. And no, it’s not just because they’re sending back US dollars, Saudi Riyals, Euros or Japanese Yen; but because our modern-day heroes are sending back what’s known as social remittances.

Social remittances refer to ideas, practices, identities and social capital that flow from receiving to sending country communities. It was coined by sociologist Peggy Levitt in her book "The Transnational Villagers" and she describes social remittances being transferred by migrants and refugees that are exchanged by letters or other forms of communication that includes phone, fax, the internet or video. She suggested that social remittance affects family relations, gender roles, class and race identity, as well as have a substantial impact on political, economic and religious participation.

This concept isn’t something new for the Philippines. In the 1800s, this was already seen through the newspaper La Solidaridad and the novels of Jose Rizal. Like them whose ideas paved . In the 21st century, blogging is the new form of social remittance of Filipinos working and living abroad. Through their blogs they are publishing their stories online to inspire others. They also advocate for causes, help others and muster support from their readers to help effect change in their own little ways.

With globalization, Filipino migrants are beginning to realize the power of harnessing the potential of social remittance. They may be students pursuing a higher education, a professional with a white-collar job or a migrant working as house help; but all of them have something in common: an economic goal and aspiration.

This year the Pinoy Expat/OFW Blog Awards or PEBA 2011 is geared to recognize the contributions of Filipino bloggers abroad. This year’s theme is dubbed as "Ako'y Magbabalik, Hatid Ko'y Pagbabago." (I Will Return, I Will Bring Change) as Balikbayans not only send back their monetary remittances; but social remittances as well.

For this year PEBA opens a new blog search called PEBA’s Any Blogger, Anywhere for all Filipino bloggers in various categories, at home or abroad. Last Nov. 30, 2011 I had the chance to cover the presscon for the movie "My Househusband: Ikaw Na!" with Miss Eugene Domingo and Direk Joey Reyes at Kenny Roger's Roasters in Katipunan.

The presscon with the bloggers went pretty great! The question and answer with Miss Uge was FUN! even though she looks really tired in promoting the movie. Eugene Domingo plays BFF to Ryan Agoncillo in the movie. The first time Eugene and Ryan were seen together on the big screen was in 2005's "Kutob" under OctoArts Film where she played a maid who had just one scene with his character.

6 years later, Eugene enjoys the ultimate upgrade in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, "My HouseHusband: Ikaw Na!" from the same outfit. Starring Ryan Agoncillo as Rod and his wife, superstar-actress Judy Ann Santos as Mia, the comedienne plays Aida; his neighbor who also happens to be the mistress of another man. Rod and Aida develop a friendship so strong that it even got working-mother-whose-always-away Mia jealous at one point. "So malamang I have more than one scene with Ryan here kasi close nga dapat mga characters namin yaman at mag-bestfriends kami na pinagselosan pa,' Eugene said.

Kidding aside, the awarded comedienne considers "My Househusband: Ikaw Na!" special to her for many reasons: As mentioned, she plays here a mistress, a first in her career; it is the first Ryan-Juday film after they got marriedl the comedienne gets to work anew with Joey Reyes, one of her all-time favorite directors; and its story is beyond assumptions made based on the title. "It will make you think about or make that, rethink the roles a man and a woman play in a marriage, the relationship between the opposite sex, the importance of and dynamics in communication, and so on. Makatotohanan ang kwento ng pelikula at kung di nyo man makita ang sarili nyo kay Mia, ROd o Aida ay may kakilala kayo na kahawig ng buhay nung tatlo," Eugene said.

She believes the MMFF entry will show the metamorphosis of Ryan into an actor to reckon with. "Si Juday, magaling na talagang aktor yan dati pa pero dito, humabol si Ryan dahil nga sa kanya ang title role. I can say that the two lead stars gave their best under the guidance of Direk Joey Reyes. Mark my words, Ryan in 'My HouseHusband' is a revelation!" the comedienne lauded.

"My HouseHusband: Ikaw Na!" is about a married couple who has a mon-traditional set-up in that Rod takes care of the house and kids while Mia looks after putting food on the table. Along the way, situations arise that test the arrangement and their relationship.

Joey calls the film neither comedy nor drama but simply "about real life." "Madami ng househusbands sa panahon ngayon who become one either by choice or circumstance at alin man sa dalawa ang dahilan ay hindi yon masama. In the film, we explored the intricacies of being in the shoes of the househusband as well as the working mother. Nagbabago ang panahon at ito ang katotohanan sa ngayon sa madaming magasawa," Joey said.

The esteemed director made special note of the "confrontation" scene between Mia and Aida. "Kakabugin nila si Anne Curtis at Christine Reyes!" he quipped.

Like Eugene, Direk Joey heaped praises on Ryan and Juday. "Nai-aaply nila sa kanilang roles ang ginawa nila sa tunay na buhay as parents. It's very real and we get the work done faster kasi nga natural na lang sa kanilang dalawa yung role."

"My HouseHusband: Ikaw Na!" is produced by OctoArts film as their entry to the 2011 MMFF that's set to open on December 25.

Pinoy Homecoming Hospitality Center Opens at DMIA

Balikbayans arriving at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) in Pampanga, will experience their warmest welcome yet with the opening of the Pinoy Homecoming Hospitality Center at the airport on November 29.

Spearheaded by the Department of Tourism (DOT), the homecoming center is part of the government's ongoing efforts to boost visitor arrivals from the balikbayan market by 25 percent in the next five years. Dubbed as the Pinoy Homecoming campaign, it primarily targets Filipinos based overseas, not only in the United States and Canada but worldwide.

A result of Presidential Proclamation No. 181 “Declaring the Years 2011 to 2016 as the Pinoy Homecoming Years” signed on June 3, 2011, the campaign supports Republic Act No. 6768, as amended, or the “Balikbayan Program.” Under the Balikbayan Program, overseas Filipinos (OFs) are given special privileges and benefits in recognition of their contribution to the growth of the Philippine economy in terms of foreign exchange inflow and remittances.

“This is a campaign that recognizes three things: the invaluable contributions of Filipinos overseas, our urgent need to develop and promote Philippine tourism further and how much can be achieved when government agencies work together,” shares DOT Secretary Ramon Jimenez. “We also have to tap into the market of second and third generation Filipinos abroad and encourage them to discover their roots.”

To reach this set of younger Filipinos abroad, the campaign also has a digital marketing component. Through the website www.pinoyhomecoming.ph, Pinoys abroad can easily access Philippine news portals, tourism products and services, practical balikbayan tips, Philippine holiday and festival calendars, as well as a directory of industry partners and the contact details of DOT’s international offices.

The Itchyworms 15th anniversary at Metrobar

Rock band The Itchyworms celebrates their 15th anniversary at Metrobar in West Avenue, Quezon City in a full-length special concert on Nov. 25 (Friday, 9:00 p.m.).

Produced by Liza-Marie’s Global Productions, The Itchyworms Live at Metrobar will showcase the band's impressive body of work, which dates back from the band’s early years in 1996 where they headlined some of the hottest bars and nightspots of Manila.

The biggest romantic-comedy movie this season! Mai-in love ka! Tatawa ka! The scent of romance with a whiff of humor will fill the early Christmas air this November! Heto na nga ang maagang pamasko mula sa Star Cinema at Viva Films, and "Won't Last the Day Without You"!

Hindi ng nga makapaghintay and milyun-milyung tagahanga ng most successful love team of 2011 na sina Sarah Geronimo at Gerald Anderson na mapanood ang highly anticipated follow-up movie ng dalawa. After the huge success of "Catch Me I'm Falling" which grossed 130M last March, fans really clamored ba masundan agad ito. "Nasurprise ako na gagawan na nga ng follow-up movie! This year din kasi namin ginawa yung unang movie eh so parang expected ko na if ever magkaka follow-up, next year pa." says an excited Sarah Geronimo then she adds "Natuwa din ako kasi nga ibig sabihin may clamor talaga na masundan agad ung 1st movie namin. Mas challenging at nakakakaba lang ng sobra this time kasi for sure higher ang expectations sa amin dito!" Gerald likewise shares the excitement, "Na-excite ako ng binanggit na may follow-up movie agad! Hindi ko pa nun alam kung part 2 ba sya ng "Catch Me...." or ibang story. Then nakipag -meeting kami with Star at ikinuwento sa amin yung story. Ibang-iba to! Very realistic at yung mga characters namin, highly relatable talaga!" He proudly beams!

"When the idea first came about, management was already very happy!" says the movie director, the very promising Raz de la Torre, "That Sarah would be playing a DJ? Du'n pa lang may kiliti na yung character! And I suppose it's really like responding to kung gaano ka in-demand now yung mga radio programs about counseling. 'Yung mga taong tumatawag sa radio, tumatawag sila para mapagsabihan sila. It's really a big trend now. When I was doing my research going around stations talking to DJ's na ganoon ang programa, iba na talaga ngayon! It's really about the DJ's character more than just the voice." Direk Raz explained.

From the movie's Creative Producer, Carmi Raymundo (the genius behind unforgettable movies "MY Amnesia Girl", "You Changed my Life" and "A Very Special Love") says that "Won't Last the Day Without You" takes it's lead stars on a different turn. "In the movie Sarah is DJ Heidee who hosts a love counseling radio program. If in her past roles Sarah played a "no boyfriend since birth" character na in love na in love sa love, this time she plays a girl who has been seriously broken-hearted kaya she refuses to believe in true love anymore. Nasaktan na sya, na heart-broken na, as in grabe na ang pagsasara sa true love! Until she meets Andrew (Gerald Anderson) who is the exact embodiment of the kind of guy she hates most, womanizer, nakakasakit ng babae! Iba talaga to! What's interesting here is kung papano ita-translate nung dalawa ang mga characters nila on-screen!" Carmi enthuses.

Direk Raz furthers, "The movie is not about what you will validate about love but rather what will break your notions about love! Like halimbawa meron kang ideal man or woman, sa tingin mo bagay sa yo yung ganitong klaseng tao or ang love or relationship dapat ganito, then all of a sudder you find out na ah mas tama pala ng ganito, akala ko hindi pero ito pala ang mas bagay sa'kin! This one makes me happier pala at mas tama sa personalidad ko!" Direk Raz closes.

It does feel like love and romance will fill the Christmas air with "Won't Last the Day Without You"! CHRISTIAN BAUTISTA starred in his first international film A Special Symphony. He is part of the first Pan-Asian musical TV series The Kitchen Musical. He is also the only recording artist to receive a 4x Platinum Record Award for Romance Revisited: The Love Songs Of Jose Mari Chan for 2011. He worked with Grammy-nominated pianist Jim Brickman, K-Pop R&B trio One Way, and fronted for the concerts of K-Pop sensations Rain and 2NE1. He also topbilled jampacked concerts here and abroad. He also has numerous endorsements tucked under his belt coupled with billboards all over the Metro and has consistently won numerous awards and citations.

With all these career highlights, Christian Bautista remains humble expressing and thankful for all these blessings.

“Ever since I took the very first steps in my career, I cherished all the lessons and experiences I’ve gained through all those years- the ups and downs, the highlights and the difficult moments. These helped me hone my craft and led me to doors of opportunities. Every recognition that goes my way, favorable or critical comments on my work challenge me to do better because I owe it to my audience that I utilize my full potential,” says Christian with a smile.

It is a dream of many artists and performers to collaborate with some of the most respected people in the international recording scene. But the chance of it happening is pretty slim.

That is unless you are Christian Bautista.

Today, Asiansation Christian Bautista adds another feather to his cap as he launches his first international album Outbound.

Outbound features Christian’s collaboration with music producers and artists he met and worked with from the United States, Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Indonesia.

“It’s the first time that we want to try and attempt to do more outside the country. [And] Yes, I’m very proud of this album,” says Christian, smiling.

The album consists of eight songs which is a good mix of slow and upbeat ballads. The first single All That’s Left offers Christian’s new, bolder sound, and further proves that he is more than just a balladeer.

“Slowly nag-build up kasi ‘yan because of The Kitchen Musical. Parang nabigyan ako ng confidence to try something na kakaiba, na mas current na contemporary. So I told myself, sige let’s try this,” says Christian.

“But that doesn’t mean that I’ll turn my back on my ballads.”

While taping for The Kitchen Musical, Christian never stopped to get in touch with some of the region’s movers in the music industry until he met Tat Tong, composer of the anthemic All That’s Left.

In a phone interview, Christian shares, “Tat Tong kasi is a friend of Kewei [Tay]. Kewei and I did a duet for Please Be Careful With My Heart in Singapore. She later on, introduced me to Tat. And then through e-mail, I asked him: ‘Hey! I’m coming up with a new album. Do you have songs?’ So he gave us one [and] we all liked it. After that, we told him na, ‘Okay, make three more! Haha. [And] With Tat Tong kasi, steady lang kami e. We would throw ideas and stuff. And if it doesn’t work out, we would always tell na okay let’s do the thing tomorrow. We write and write and we never stop…”

And write they did. The remarkable results were All That’s Left and the other song Unphotographable.

Tat’s other masterpieces-original songs in Outbound include What Can I Do and his masterful arrangement on Christian’s cover of George Michael’s Faith, which is very special for Christian because it was used in his first big solo number in The Kitchen Musical.

Aside from Christian’s collaborations with Tat, Outbound gathers its noteworthy works with Grammy-nominated multi-platinum instrumentalist Jim Brickman for Never Far Away, the K-Pop R&B trio One Way for Wrong Number, Indonesian songwriter Satrio for the hit song I’m Already King, and with Avex Japan’s amazing Baby M for the lovely duet Sakura.

Christian’s music videos always feature familiar and beautiful female celebrities: from Anne Curtis, Georgina Wilson, Solenn Heusaff, and Angel Locsin (in Beautiful Girl) to Cristine Reyes (in I Remember The Girl) to Paula Taylor (in Tell Me Your Name) to Carmen Soo (in Afraid for Love to Fade) to Angelica Panganiban (in Nakaraang Pasko) to Sarah Geronimo (in Please Be Careful With My Heart).

In All That’s Left, it features CosPlay Queen Alodia Gosiengfiao. When asked what’s like working with her, Christian says, “Alodia’s beautiful, she’s talented, she stayed up with us [from] 8 PM to 8 AM. We danced all night long until 3 AM. It was fun.”

And while it’s apparent that Outbound has drawn him out of his comfort zone, Christian admits that it does not mean he will stop being a balladeer.
“For this album talaga kasi medyo half-half. Half experimental, half-medyo ballad pa rin naman siya. [And] Easy listening pa rin naman. Pero definitely I’m not going to drop the ballads,” he says, smiling. “Kasi siyempre, nagsimula ako sa ballads and du’n naman talaga ako kumportable. So hindi ko p’wedeng iwanan talaga ‘yun.”

As a performer, Christian believes he’s improved, but he’s not reached his peak. “Honestly, I do feel that I’m at my best so far. [But] I just hope I’m not at my best.”

He adds, “[And] As I continue this journey, I have reached another turn on the road ahead. This is the right time to pursue new paths and directions. And there is no better way to begin this new and exciting phase than to share my latest work with you. With your support and a personal sense of renewed energy and devotion, I am ready to face the challenge of the future.”

Outbound is out now in all major record bars nationwide under Universal Records.

I'm pretty sure all us have been to Boracay already and probably enjoyed all the activities like the common banana boat ride, paraw sailing, snorkeling, reef walking, henna tattoo, sand castles, island hopping, parasailing, walking on a powder like white sand and most specially swimming in a crystal clear water. But have you tried Ariel's Point? Curious?

Ariel's Point is totally for boracay visitors who loves adventure. It will give you the beauty of the natural splendor of the Philippines by experiencing it as well as seeing it. It has a five cliff diving sites 45 ft is the highest and 8 ft is the lowest. It also has it's overlooking turquoise swimming holes, lush mangrove forests, and volcanic rock formations. I was shouting lifeguard! lifeguard! instead of lifevest! hahahaha! I was a bit scared that time because I might experience leg crumps, just to be safe. I know how to swim but I get easily tired that's why I was asking for lifevest. The water is too deep and I was like thinking that a shark might appear! LOL! But I did enjoyed jumping off the cliff, the view, buffet lunch and most specially the company.

My first attempt was ok but my second attempt, scared na tumalon! hahaha!

Check out my photos during our weekend stay @ Regency Lagoon Resort in Boracay from August 20 - 23, 2011. It was my first time to visit Boracay together with my girlfriend's family and we're happy that we spent our stay at Regency. I must say that the resort was totally luxurious even though most of the occupants are koreans, pffftt!

Resort's crew services and food, High Class!

What I like most about the resort is the bar at the middle of the pool. Isn't cool? The pool is just 4 to 5 feet, you can beer or whatever drinks you want while enjoying the pool.

Our stay in Regency Lagoon Resort was totally worth it! 5 Star Rating for me.

I just saw "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank" (The Woman in a Septic Tank) together with my girlfriend (actually, I just dragged into seeing the movie), yesterday. As expected, it was funny and worth the penny. I was like watching a movie and play at the same time. The story line was simple yet full of ingredients. It's about this three passionate filmmakers who dreamed of making an award winning independent film.

See it now guys! I assure you, it's worth the penny.

Synopsis:

Ang Babae sa Septic Tank chronicles a day in the life of three ambitious, passionate but misguided filmmakers as they set out to do a quick pre-prod at Starbucks, a courtesy call to their lead actress, Eugene Domingo, and an ocular inspection of their film’s major location, the Payatas dumpsite. Director Rainier, Producer Bingbong and Production Assistant Jocelyn are well-to-do, well-educated film school graduates who are dead set on making an Oscar worthy film. They believe they have a winning script, the energy and the drive to make their dreams come true. Like most filmmakers they know, they have devised a screenplay that will show the real essence of our culture: poverty.

In the course of one day, they brainstorm and exhaust all possible treatment of their project: the story of Mila (Eugene Domingo), a mother from the slums, who out of desperation to survive, has sold her child to a pedophile. As they discuss the possible executions of the story, the movie-within-a-movie gets reborn in Jocelyn’s imagination several times. As a gritty no frills neo-realist film, as a glossy musical, as an over-the-top melodrama and as a docu drama using non-actors.

For their last task of the day, they visit the dumpsite for the first time. As filmmakers gunning for authenticity, they get excited with the ”beauty” of the squalor around them. Soon enough, they are faced with reality as they come face to face with the real effects of their chosen subject. Another year older and I would have to say that I'm grateful of where I'am and to whom I'm with. I'm thanking God for giving me this year a happy and fruitful one and I wish to have more of it in the future.

I was thinking of buying something for myself - maybe a new phone (Sony Ericsson Experia Arc) or a lens (Nikkor 18-200 mm) for my slr pero gusto ko din ng iPad ung 3g + Wifi 64 gb! hahahaha! Anyhoe, I also want to thank my friends who greeted me because even though we barely see each other they still remember my day.

By the way, I made an experiment on facebook, I intentionally hid my birthday and see if who can still remember it, in that way you can figure out the people who truly value you. Try it too guys! It's Cool!

"Tingala sa Baba" is one of the Kasambuhay Habambuhay Short Film Anthology brought to us by Nestle Philippines in celebration of its 100 years in the country. I haven't seen all the short films yet but I would have to say that this is my favorite among the other short films made. I even smiled and got me a teary eye after watching it (fyi, the tears didn't fall, hahahaha!).

I was really touched because I didn't came from a rich family and I was like imagining myself with the poor kid. Check the film below and I hope you like it the way that I do.

In the continuing celebration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Jose Rizal and History Week Celebration, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and Animo Events Management Inc., will spearhead a fun run entitled “RUN RIZAL” on September 18, 2011.

The run will start and end at the Rizal Monument and will wind through Roxas Blvd. and Diosdado Macapagal Avenue. Runners can participate in the 3K, 5K, 10K, and 16K categories. Proceeds of this activity will be given to continue the preservation of the three Rizal Shrines administered by the NHCP—Rizal Shrine in Calamba, Rizal Shrine in Dapitan, and Rizal Shrine in Fort Santiago.

Registration fee is Php600 for 16K and Php500 for 3K, 5K, and 10K (inclusive of singlet, timing chip and bib). There will be a promo for students, government employees and novice runners for the 3K category at Php150 joining fee inclusive of timing chip and bib only. Registration is open starting this July 29 at the following venues: NHCP main office in T.M. Kalaw St. Ermita, Manila; Quezon Memorial Shrine (QMS); and Quezon City Circle. Special medals will be given to all 16K runners and the first 100 medals will be given out to all male and female participants in the 3K, 5K, 10K categories.

Great Weekend

How was your weekend guys? Mine was absolutely fun fun fun! together with my behalf (gf). Last saturdat, I was the one who is in charge of the cooking for lunchat her place with her sister. I planned to do "chicken curry". It was my first time to do chicken curry hahahaha! but it went well, thanks to panlasangpinoy.com. Then after that, we went to IMAX theater to see Transformer Dark of the Moon. For me, Revenge of the Fallen is much better than Dark of the Moon, I was not impressed about the fight scenes and the storyline etc. I would rate it as from 7 to 10. The next day, we decided to do a movie marathon of Harry Potter (from the Philosopher's Stone to Deathly Hallows part 1) to recall some of the scenes and in preparation for the Deathly Hallows Part 2. And by the way, I failed to see the match between the Philippine Azkals vs. Sri Lanka yesterday. hahaha! Salute to Philippines Azkals! 4-0! Good work! This time, I won't miss their next game. Azkals vs. Kuwait!

Stranded and Wet

LOL! Typhoon Falcon gave me my first experience to be stranded for almost 2 hours in the street waiting for a passenger vehicle from home to the office. Falcon's rain was totally heavy that caused flood in some places most specially near our location. I was like whoa! The rain continuously pour as it made the street into river. I took a video on my mobile phone while staring at the flooded street. I decided not to go for work anymore and head back home because I was totally wet (hmmm, that doesn't sound good? eh!) Anyway, as I head back home, the rain stopped LOL! I think Typhoon Falcon just tricked me, he just got me stranded and wet. At home, I just changed clothes and decided to still go for work and here I'm now sharing my wetness stranded etc. blah blah blah! hahahaha! I don't wanna experience anymore!!

Today, I had fun playing google's logo, a guitar. You can play it on your keyboard, try it guys! It's fun! The funny is, I don't know how to play a guitar! hahahaha! It is actually a tribute to an American jazz and country guitarist, songwriter and inventor, Lester William Polsfuss known as Les Paul. He was a pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar which "made the sound of rock and roll possible". He is credited with many recording innovations. Although he was not the first to use the technique, his early experiments with overdubbing (also known as sound on sound), delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects and multitrack recording were among the first to attract widespread attention.

His innovative talents extended into his playing style, including licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques and timing, which set him apart from his contemporaries and inspired many guitarists of the present day.He recorded with his wife Mary Ford in the 1950s, and they sold millions of records.

Among his many honors, Paul is one of a handful of artists with a permanent, stand-alone exhibit in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Conquering Legazpi City, Albay

Last week, I was able to see the majestic Mayon Volcano ni Legazpi City, Albay and I was totally amazed by it's perfect cone shaped. Actually, this was made possible because I was invited by a friend to attend his wedding in Legazpi City. The wedding was done beautifully not just the beach wedding setup but their vows to each other. We were silently listening while they are exchanging vows, we really felt the sincerity of how much they love each other. Enough of the dramatic story hahahaha!

The Next day, the plan was to visit the Cagsawa Ruins (we didn't stop by, and I have no idea LOL!) then CamSur WaterSports Complex (unfortunately, we didn't had the chance to try the wakeboard thingy because the reservation was fully booked until 6 pm and we only had a short time staying) then some sort of falls somewhere and finally the last stop was in a place of the bride's friend, at the beach. Me and chopstick decided to go back because we're already tired from the falls trip and the same time we don't want to rush things getting back to the airport the next day because from the last stop, it's 3 hours back to the airport in Legazpi City. We took our rest at the Mayon Vista, a hotel near the airport. Early morning, we had our chance to visit the Majectic cagsawa Ruins and bought some souvenirs and pasalubong, the famous Pili Nut.

How far would you go to save 500 women?

For the dedicated cyclists of the upcoming “Tour of Hope 2011- 00: Going the Xtra Mile Against Cervical Cancer,” it will take 500 kilometers in 5 days. They will undertake the challenging 5-day journey from Manila to Laoag in order to help raise funds for cervical cancer prevention vaccination drives and seminars.

“What makes this year’s Tour of Hope different is that we are going to vaccinate a total of 500 women during the tour,” explains Abbygale Arenas-de Leon, Bravehearts president. “We wanted the tour to be more than just a way to spread awareness about cervical cancer prevention. We hope this will inspire more women to take action against this deadly but preventable disease.”

Recently, the exciting details of the biggest anti-cervical cancer were revealed at the official launch of this year’s Tour of Hope, which was organized by Bravehearts in partnership with Team David’s Salon and GlaxoSmithKline. The event was held at R.O.X., the biggest outdoor sports and recreation hub in Southeast Asia and hosted by celebrity athlete Tricia Chiongbian-Concepcion, who will also be cycling to help save women from cervical cancer in the Tour of Hope.

In a country where cervical cancer claims the lives of 12 women everyday[1], the need to fight this disease has only become more urgent over the years.

“I would like to encourage women to be screened for cervical cancer regularly,” said Dr. Cecilia Llave, Program Director of the Cervical Cancer Prevention Network (CECAP). “The disease is treatable through early detection. In fact, not only is it treatable, it can also be avoided by living a healthy lifestyle and getting vaccinated.”

Since The Tour of Hope started in 2008, it has generated approximately Php 2 million through sponsorships and pledges. These were then used for cervical cancer screening programs and lectures with the Cervical Cancer Prevention Network (CECAP).

However, if you think that The Tour of Hope is all about the bikers, think again. Over the past two years, the event organizers have formed partnerships with local government units such as those of Tarlac, Dagupan, Pampanga, La Union, and Baguio in order to conduct lectures during each stopover of the tour to local communities with marginalized groups who display poor health-seeking behavior.

What’s in Store for The Tour of Hope 2011

Aside from the challenging journey, The Tour of Hope has always been known for bringing its participants to scenic locations such as Vigan, Zambales, and Camarines Sur. This year is no exception. The Tour of Hope 2011 - 500: Going the Xtra Mile Against Cervical Cancer will kick off at the TriNoma Mall in Quezon City on May 28, 2011.

The first stop will be at Tarlac City, Tarlac. It is the home of President Noynoy Aquino’s ancestral house and Mount Pinatubo, where adventure-seeking 4x4 wheel drivers try their skills, and hikers visit the crater. The tour will then continue to San Fernando, La Union, where the renowned La Union Botanical Gardens is located. Afterwards, the bikers will head to Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, where historical churches and ancestral homes that reflect the beauty of old world architecture can be found. The fourth stop will be Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, where tourists often visit the Juan Luna Shrine. There, visitors can get a glimpse of the award-winning Spolarium painter’s life through vintage photographs and household artifacts. The final stop for this year’s Tour of Hope is Paoay, where bikers will get to see the unique blend of Spanish, Chinese, and architecture represented by Paoay Church, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The last leg of the tour will feature celebrity bikers such as Commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal, Marvin Kiefer, Rovilson Fernandez, Troy Montero, Aubrey Miles, Will Devaughn, Richie Hardin, Richard Herrera, Janna Victoria, Gem Padilla, Anthony Pangilinan, and David Charlton. They will be lending their star power to draw attention to a good cause. In addition, Tessa Prieto-Valdes is currently working on a special project that will also help raise funds for cervical cancer prevention.

As part of the preparations for the upcoming Tour of Hope, there will also be a Mini Tour of Hope that will be held on May 7 at Filinvest, Alabang. This is a great way for biking enthusiasts to show their support for the anti-cervical cancer advocacy, and everyone is invited to join.

“On behalf of Bravehearts, I’d like to encourage everyone to join the fight against cervical cancer,” Abbygale Arenas-de Leon said. “For all the women, do it for your families and loved ones. And for all the men, I encourage you to support the cervical cancer prevention advocacy for your mothers, sisters, and daughters. With your help, thousands of lives can be saved.”

Geez! I'm not feeling well today maybe because of the summer's heat. The heat of the sun is totally burning since the month of April started. My head is like heavy as a coconut fruit and I'm perspiring like a fountain, is it too exxagerating? hahahaha! I'm just saying because I'm not used to getting sick. Well, to prevent me from getting it worst, I already took my med and watch the latest trailer of Transformers: Dark of the Moon as my cure.

Check it out guys! It's totally a bad ass trailer so far!

The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft on the Moon and must race against the Decepticons to find it and learn its secrets, which could turn the tide in the Transformers' final battle.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is the 3rd and final film in the Transformers film series, from the direction by Michael Bay and being produced by Steven Spielberg. It is the sequel to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and is scheduled for release on June 29 in selected locations and July 1, 2011 in the US. The film will be presented in regular 2D, Real D 3D and IMAX, featuring Dolby Surround 7.1 sound.

X-Men: First Class Latest Trailer

Yeah! Check this out guys! As Fox released the latest trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class. I will surely won't miss this because I've been a fan of it, from the animated series to the big screen. The latest trailer shows a relationship between Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and a more darker tone to the between Xavier (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) as opposed to previous trailers which seemed to position Magneto more as a tragic figure.

Opens June 3, 2011!!

What can you say about it guys? I hope that it can satisfy my/our expectation. Woohoo! Can't wait!

Vacation is over guys and I'm pretty sure most of us are still lazy to start again for work on a monday but we need to do a lot of stuff for work, right? Did you enjoy your vacation? Where? Usually, some of us celebrated their holy week in famous beaches from around the country like boracay, puerto galera etc. I did enjoy my vacation because I went back home in the province to be with my friends, family and special someone. I had fun with good friday at a nice resort (24/7 Inn and Resort) with my friends and the next day with my family.

Craving for pies and cakes? Here's a great place to satisfy your sweet tooth. "Happy Summer, Banapple 4 Ever:)". Yep, you're right guys, it's Banapple Pies and Cheesecakes tag line for summer. Banapple is a friendly bakery cafe that serves freshly-baked pies and cheesecakes and desserts, as well as good food and coffee. Actually we've been planning to visit bannaple for months because one of our friend recommended that they serve the best pies and cheesecakes which is their specialty obviously.

Finally, we had our chance to visit bannaple last sunday at 2nd floor IL Terrazo, Tomas Morato, QC. Banapple's place at IL Terrazo is not that big, I just saw a few tables, I think it's 5 tables inside and if I'm not mistaken it's 7 tables outside (a table for 4 person) other than that place is cool. Usually if it's your first time in a cafe or restaurant, you'll ask for their best seller, right? We did ask for their best seller which is the

Banana Starry-Berry Custard Cheesecake for 110/slice;

Banapple's homemade Iced Tea;

Trio of Sausages Fettuccine for 170;

protein-packed pasta of crumbled chorizo, garlic longganisa and hungarian sausage, tossed in garlic, parmesan cheese and a very light cream sauce.

Lasagna Roll Ups for 170;

herbed cream and parmesan cheeses fill al dente lasagna wide strips are rolled up abd smothered with classic tomato meat sauce and mozzarella cheese.

Baked Creamy Cheesy Penne for 175;

a well-loved dish luscious white cheese sauce and meaty tomato sauce with al dente penne pasta and sauteed hungarian sausage served with pesto bread.

We are surprised when the food was being served because the servings was about for 2 people! and taste of the food was totally delicious, you'll never regret eating at banapple.

Digital Distribution and Machinima.com today announced they have signed an agreement to premiere and distribute the highly anticipated “Mortal Kombat: Legacy” live action digital series produced by Warner Premiere. On April 16, 2011, Thunderbird Resorts awards the winning Extraordinary Video to bag the much-coveted P100k cash prize and Vacation Getaway. The awarding proper takes place at Thunderbird Resorts Rizal’s newly-opened Event Center.

“What Makes You Extraordinary?” was the question posted in the contest, wherein participants must answer by submitting a video best explaining their reasons. By the end of February 2011, a total of 58 video entries were received which were then posted online for the voting period that ran from March 1to 25 2011.

Conquering Tacloban City, Leyte

Guys, let me share you my adventure last March 25 - 27, 2011 in Tacloban City, Leyte. Actually, I was able to get there because my brother can't get back home from the US to attend his son's graduation so he requested me and my mom to attend my nephew's high school graduation at Saint Mary's Palo, Leyte and I totally said yes because he'll pay for the airfare.

hahahaha! Don't laugh at me guys! It's my first time to ride a plane through Zestair and it was fun.Well, enough of the talk, let me share you the pictures I took alone. Check out the attractions in Tacloban City that can make you say WoW.

First Stop: Sto. Niño Shrine and Heritage Museum

The Santo Niño Shrine is one of the 29 presidential rest houses that the late President Ferdinand Marcos had built. It was built for his wife Imelda Marcos, who was born in Tacloban. It is considered the number 1 tourist spot in Tacloban because of its association with Imelda.

A chapel dominates the ground floor with the image of Sto. Niño as focal point. Elevated by 2-3 steps on the peripheral are 13 guest rooms, each with varied motifs representing the different regions of the country. On the second floor is a very spacious ballroom as well as the bed chambers of the former First Family.

Inside the mansion you can find some collections of paintings of historical events in Leyte. The shrine was also a palace during the Marcos regime, with Olympic-size swimming pool, state dining rooms, about 13 guest rooms and private bedrooms for Imelda, Ferdinand and their children. Imelda's bathroom was luxurious and larger than many Filipino homes. The place is filled with antique ceramics, pottery and collectibles. Imelda stayed there only once.

The guest rooms are each in a different theme; a little touch that I really like was that each room had a signed picture of Ferdinand, and a diorama showing Imelda performing some beneficial act or another.

The whole house was furninshed with a multitude of antiques from around the world, you can find Austrian mirrors in almost every room of the mansion. It also became a repository of the Marcos' collections - chandeliers from Czech Republic, mirrors from Austria, tiles from Italy, jars from China, floor carpets from Argentina, among others. Second Stop:Philipppine-Japan Peace Commemorative Monument and Park

A multi-tiered park built to honor the paramilitary personnel and soldiers who served and died during World War II.

Third Stop: Madonna Peace of Shrine

A statue made of a rare miyagi stone created by a famous Japanese sculptor.

Fourth Stop: MacArthur Park (Leyte Landing Memorial, located at the Red Beach, Palo, Leyte)

Unfortunately, I was not able to visit the Price Mansion and the famous San Juanico Bridge (bridge connecting Samar and Leyte) maybe when I get back that will be first thing that'll do.
